For the first time, a seminar on stem cells and biotechnology was organized by the SIDA/SAREC Program, the common diseases project in collaboration with Viet Ba Equipment Company, and representatives from Bayer Health Care/Becton Dickinson, held in Hanoi over two days on October 18 and 19.
The seminar titled “Application of Stem Cells, Biotechnology, and Automated Laboratory Systems in Medicine” featured 13 presentations from leading professors and doctors both domestically and internationally. Topics included the application of stem cells in treating common diseases, addressing infectious diseases such as HIV, HCV, HBV, laboratory automation, and future research directions.
According to Professor Dr. Nguyen Lan Viet, Rector of Hanoi Medical University, the seminar on the application of stem cells, biotechnology, and automation in medicine aims to share initial experiences and results, as well as to contribute ideas for developing the next phase of research on stem cell biotechnology – focusing on training and improving treatment applications.
Notably, a part of the seminar’s discussion focused on seeking appropriate solutions and directions for the coming years regarding the application and transfer of stem cell technology in treating cardiovascular, neurological, ophthalmological diseases, and immune deficiency disorders.
These strategies and solutions will enable Hanoi Medical University to collaborate not only with the conference participants but also with scientists and universities both domestically and internationally, including those from the United States, Sweden, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore—countries that have achieved significant advancements in this field.
