On a precarious cliff known as the “Devil’s Slide,” just a few meters away from the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean, stands a wooden house. Many questions arise surrounding this house, but none have been answered satisfactorily.
A strange, tilted three-story house made of wooden beams has appeared on the edge of a cliff in the California bay area. This cliff, known as the “Devil’s Slide,” is infamous for frequent landslides, to the extent that a nearby road was destroyed. The cliff’s ominous name is due to its dangerously slippery slope leading down to the ocean.

The mysterious house was first discovered in December 2022 through a drone video. Since then, many have attempted to find more images of it via Google Maps. The house appears to have several rooms, precariously perched on a small cliff. The view from this house is likely stunning or terrifying, depending on one’s perspective.

Enlarged images show signs of life, as there appear to be wooden chairs and a closed-off room inside the house. Google Maps images suggest there may be a cord connecting the house to the path of the “Devil’s Slide,” believed to be the access route to the house.
However, questions remain unanswered: Who built this house? Why? How?…

A spokesperson for San Mateo County (California) stated to SFGATE that because this “structure” is located right next to the ocean and not on county land, the county does not manage it.

A local land authority, Samuel Casillas, told The San Francisco Chronicle: “We know there is something down there, but we don’t know who it belongs to. It’s in a very dangerous position, truly inaccessible.” He also mentioned that anyone living in that house clearly wishes to be alone, and others should respect that preference.
