The video captures the dramatic scene of four giant Komodo dragons, each measuring up to 2 meters long, battling for dominance in Komodo National Park on the island of Komodo, Indonesia.
This video was recorded by forest management officer Konstantinus Muga. Muga reported that he first spotted two Komodo dragons in the forest, staring each other down for several seconds to assess their opponent before rising up on their hind legs and grappling with each other.
Both dragons exerted all their muscular strength to try to knock their opponent to the ground. Just as the contest was heating up, two more Komodo dragons appeared, joining the fray and intensifying the battle for supremacy.
At the end of the confrontation, the largest Komodo dragon emerged victorious, lying on top of the three remaining opponents as a display of dominance. Muga stated that the battle lasted a total of 10 minutes.
Komodo dragons typically fight to attract the attention of females or to establish territorial dominance.
These reptiles are known as the largest lizards currently living on Earth and are fierce, aggressive creatures. They are also among the most voracious reptiles on the planet, capable of consuming any creature within their habitat, including their own kind.
Adult Komodo dragons may prey on weaker juvenile dragons. As a result, the young must climb high into trees to avoid larger dragons for 8 to 9 years until they reach maturity.
