These affected communes are located in 69 districts, towns, and cities from 17 provinces and municipalities, including Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Cao Bang, Hai Duong, Hoa Binh, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, Phu Tho, Son La, Thai Binh, Thai Nguyen, Thanh Hoa, Hai Phong, Vinh Phuc, Long An, Quang Ninh, and Nghe An.
The total number of poultry culled from the beginning of October 2005 to the present is 1,949,440.
The increase in the number of affected communes is due to the continued emergence of new outbreaks. On December 1, in four farming households in the districts of Trieu Son and Nhu Thanh (Thanh Hoa), 37 chickens and 67 ducks died. The total number of culled poultry was 82 chickens and 1,833 ducks.
In Hai Phong on December 1, an outbreak of avian flu was reported at two poultry farms in two communes in Thuy Nguyen district, resulting in the death of 250 ducks. The total number of culled poultry was 3,931 ducks. Additionally, under the pilot directive from the city, 14,587 waterfowl were culled in three communes of Kien Thuy district on the same day.
Quang Ninh has also reported new outbreaks over the past two days. On December 1, in two poultry farming households in Phong Coc and Song Khoai communes of Yen Hung district, 25 chickens and 53 ducks died. The total number of culled poultry was 1,947 ducks and 25 chickens.
Today, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem chaired a meeting with the National Steering Committee for Avian Influenza Prevention. On the same day, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development inspected the avian flu prevention work in Bac Ninh province.
