The Atlantic hurricane season of 2005 officially came to an end on December 1, setting records for the highest number of tropical storms and Category 5 hurricanes.
When discussing this year’s hurricane season in the Atlantic, one cannot forget the devastating impacts of Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma. These storms claimed the lives of tens of thousands of innocent civilians in the Atlantic region. The material damages caused by these hurricanes amounted to hundreds of millions of USD.
Unlike previous years, the last five hurricanes of the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season were named using letters from the Greek alphabet, as the official names designated for storms had been exhausted this year.
