The Department of Animal Health has announced that currently, there are only 14 provinces and cities nationwide experiencing outbreaks that have not passed 21 days, affecting 187 communes and wards across 63 districts.
Long An has gone 21 days without an outbreak; Hoa Binh has not reported new outbreaks for 20 days; and Bac Giang has not seen any new cases in the last 18 days.
The 14 provinces and cities where outbreaks have occurred within the last 21 days are Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Cao Bang, Hai Duong, Hoa Binh, Ninh Binh, Phu Tho, Son La, Thai Nguyen, Thanh Hoa, Hai Phong, Vinh Phuc, Quang Ninh, and Nghe An.
Specifically, on December 2, Cao Bang reported new outbreak cases. The avian influenza occurred in 4 communes across 3 districts: Hoa An, Tra Linh, and Trung Khanh, resulting in the deaths of 517 chickens and 431 ducks. The total number of poultry destroyed reached 817 ducks and 2,900 chickens, with test results confirming positivity for the H5 influenza virus.
Although no new outbreak has been reported, yesterday (December 4), the Animal Health Sub-Department of Hai Phong still destroyed 5,308 ducks in the districts of Thuy Nguyen and Kien Thuy. Bac Giang also culled 371,526 poultry. From November 23 to December 5, the number of poultry destroyed in Hai Duong was 714,835, nearly 700,000 of which were ducks.
Since October 1, the total number of poultry destroyed nationwide has reached 2.4 million (including poultry culled in urban areas).
