Pilot Pham Duy Long on the VAM1 aircraft |
After a period of postponement due to various reasons, at 9:30 AM on December 8, the VAM1 aircraft (a small two-seater propeller plane) produced under the leadership of the Vietnam Mechanics Association took off from Nuoc Trong Airport in Long Thanh, Dong Nai.
Following the order from the chairman of the test flight council, Colonel Luong Quoc Bao (which includes representatives from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Defense, and the Ministry of Transport), pilot Pham Duy Long successfully completed the first flight of the VAM1 aircraft assembled in Vietnam, which included three successful takeoffs and landings.
On the first flight, the pilot took off at a speed of approximately 60 km/h, flew a circuit at an altitude of 200 m, and landed to check the landing gear, tires, and technical details.
On the second flight, the VAM1 made two circuits at an altitude of 300 m.
On the third flight, the pilot performed two left and right figure-eight maneuvers at altitudes ranging from 500 to 800 m with a tilt of 15-25 degrees.
Immediately after completing the three flights, the test flight council contacted and reported the successful results of the flight to Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem.
Previously, on the morning of December 7, the test flight council also permitted a trial flight at an altitude below 5 m.
