As anticipated, the overwhelming number of people trying to buy tickets online caused occasional network congestion, making it difficult for latecomers to access the sites. However, the congestion was not excessively severe. FIFA reported that approximately 250,000 tickets would be distributed online.
The first round of ticket sales will run from December 12, 2005, to January 15, 2006. The second round will be available from February 15, 2006, to April 15, 2006, and the final online ticket sales period will begin on May 1, 2006, and end on July 9, 2006. High-demand matches in the qualifiers, such as England vs. Sweden, Argentina vs. Netherlands, and Brazil vs. Croatia, are expected to sell out quickly.
