Once upon a time, there was a young boy who learned tailoring but encountered a cruel master who would scold and hit him all day long. The boy felt frustrated but didn’t know how to escape this suffering and continued to endure in order to learn his trade. One day, a family was preparing for a wedding and called upon the master tailor to make clothes for the bride. The boy then came up with a clever idea for revenge and went to the household to say:
– I must warn you beforehand: he has a fit of madness; whenever he goes mad, he bites anyone nearby!
Time was of the essence, as the wedding day was fast approaching, and he was the only skilled tailor in the village. Upon hearing the boy’s words, the homeowner felt anxious and asked:
– So what happens when he has one of his fits?
– Oh, I can always tell when he’s about to lose control; I have a way to handle it.
– What do you do?
– Whenever he starts to thump his hands down on the mat, that’s my cue that he’s about to go mad; I will hit him with a stick, and that will resolve the issue.
The homeowner, knowing this, felt relieved and called the tailor to come, instructing the family to prepare some sticks just in case something went wrong.
On the first day, the master tailor came to work, and nothing unusual happened.
The next morning, just as he was finishing a shirt, the homeowner noticed him thumping his hands on the mat, looking around as if he were mentally disturbed. Thinking that the tailor was about to have a fit, the homeowner ordered the family to grab the sticks and give him a beating. The tailor, completely confused and taken by surprise, cried out in pain. The more he screamed, the more they believed he was going mad, and they hit him even harder. It wasn’t until he lay still that they finally stopped.
It turned out that the boy had hidden the tailor’s needle, and when the tailor pounded his hands on the mat, he was actually searching for it!
