Scientists from the Institute of Biotechnology and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology have successfully researched and produced a Lumbrokinase formulation derived from earthworms, which can dissolve blood clots that obstruct arteries and treat bruises.
After testing on animals, the formulation was trialed on 30 volunteer patients in Hanoi suffering from vascular accidents due to arterial obstruction, yielding positive results.
The research team discovered that the specific type of earthworm is found at the Ba Vi Rabbit and Goat Center (Hà Tây). This worm has characteristics similar to those used in China, Japan, and South Korea for Lumbrokinase production. The center raises these worms as a high-protein feed for livestock.
The scientists meticulously removed soil, sand, and impurities from the worms before drying them at low temperatures to preserve the essential enzymes. The worms are then ground into powder and mixed with several additives to create the final product in powdered form.
