The United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT) has recently released a report detailing security issues from the past 12 months. Out of a total of 5,198 vulnerabilities, only 812 are related to Windows, even though the operating system continues to be regarded as one of the least secure.
US-CERT also reported 2,328 issues in Unix and Linux, along with 2,058 vulnerabilities affecting multiple operating systems simultaneously.
However, this report does not mention the latest threat posed by Windows Metafile, which has the potential to severely impact computer systems worldwide and is currently being exploited by hackers, yet remains unpatched by Microsoft.
Additionally, no issues with Apple’s Mac OS X were cited, despite several problems with this operating system being reported over the past year.
