Macromedia Finally Acknowledges Serious Security Flaw in Flash Player 7 and Earlier Versions
The security vulnerability was discovered by eEye Digital Security in June, but Macromedia only released a patch four months later.
This vulnerability is considered critical for Macromedia, as hackers could inject malicious code into this player, which would subsequently be executed, potentially damaging the user’s system.
Macromedia recommends that users install or upgrade to Flash Player 8 to patch this security issue.
However, Macromedia also stated that users who wish to continue using Flash Player 7 or those with system configurations that are incompatible with the latest version of Flash Player will receive a minor fix to address the issue.
