The Asia Pacific Information and Communication Technology Award (APICTA) is being held in Chiang Mai, Thailand from February 16 to 19. This competition sees participation from 16 countries in the region. Vietnam has won awards three times across four competitions.
APICTA aims to raise awareness about Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and bridge the digital divide among countries in the region. It enhances the status of the Asia-Pacific in innovation and nurtures talent by providing a connected network system and creating a platform for evaluating and comparing the effectiveness of products. The competition also serves as a venue for collaboration among participating members, promoting economic and trade exchanges, technology transfer, and creating business opportunities through the introduction of products that attract manufacturers and investors.
Participants include businesses, research organizations, training institutions, and individuals who are authors of ICT products from member countries. APICTA consists of 14 categories such as: e-Government and Public Services, Education and Training, Student Projects, Research and Development, Platform Tools and Applications, Security, Financial Applications, Industry, Health, Telecommunications, Media and Entertainment, Tourism, and General Applications.
The awards are conducted through a presentation-based judging method. Each contestant will present their competing product for 20 minutes and defend it for an additional 10 minutes. In each specialty, there are at least three judges from different member countries evaluating the entries.
The registration profile includes information about the product, the organization, the award category group, and a product description according to the APICTA 2005 criteria. The registration deadline is January 15.
