On July 25th (Hanoi time), South Korean athlete Lim Si-hyeon set a new world record in archery at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Lim Si-hyeon demonstrated her dominance by scoring 48 perfect 10s and hitting the bullseye 21 times, earning a total of 694 points. She convincingly led the women’s individual recurve qualification round.

The South Korean athlete broke the previous record of 692 points set by compatriot Chaeyoung Kang in 2019.
In this qualification round, Nam Suhyeon from South Korea achieved a personal best of 688 points, finishing second. Chinese athlete Xiaolei Yang placed third with a score of 673 points.
In the team ranking, Lim Si-hyeon and Nam Suhyeon helped South Korea establish a new Olympic record with a total of 2,046 points, surpassing the Chinese team (1,996 points) and Mexico (1,986 points).
Also in the women’s individual recurve qualification, Đỗ Thị Ánh Nguyệt was the first athlete to represent Vietnam at this year’s Olympics.
The Vietnamese athlete scored 648 points, ranking 37th out of 64 competitors in the qualification round. Ánh Nguyệt will face Iranian opponent Mobina Fallah, currently ranked 28th, in the Round of 32 on July 30th.
On July 25th, Lê Quốc Phong will compete in the men’s individual recurve event at 19:15. Quốc Phong’s score will be combined with Ánh Nguyệt’s results for the mixed team ranking.
