1,000 specialized balloons for meteorological research will be released into the sky from now until February 16 in Darwin, Australia.
This initiative is part of an international experiment involving scientists from ten countries, aimed at studying cirrus clouds, a type of cloud prevalent in tropical regions that significantly impacts the environment but remains a mystery to the scientific community.
Data regarding heat and water exchange will be collected from satellites, aircraft, ships, and ground research stations within a 250 km radius. Scientists hope the results of this experiment will aid in forecasting the intensity of tropical storms.
