Last week, many people reported seeing massive fireballs streaking across the sky in Germany, moving as quickly as lightning, sparking rumors about unidentified flying objects. Scientists have confirmed that this phenomenon is a meteor shower.
According to sources from NASA, these fireballs were also observed in other parts of the world, including the United States, Canada, Northern Ireland, and Japan. This could indicate that Earth is traversing a dense cloud of space debris.
Mr. Werner Walter, an amateur astronomer in Mannheim who runs a website dedicated to unexplained astronomical phenomena and manages a hotline for reporting sightings of unidentified flying objects, stated: “In the past week, we received at least 15 calls and emails from individuals who witnessed these fireballs.”
In addition to the meteor shower, Mr. Walter mentioned the possibility that these luminous objects could be the result of a satellite re-entering the atmosphere and subsequently disintegrating. He also suggested that these might be unidentified flying objects, referring to phenomena that remain unexplained.
According to NASA, Mr. David Asher, a meteoritics expert at the Armagh Observatory in Northern Ireland, confirmed that this is a meteor shower from the Taurid constellation. The Taurid meteor shower consists of meteors originating from the Taurus constellation and is most active during late October and early November.
