3D Images in Acrobat 3D |
This is the Acrobat 3D version that Adobe plans to launch on January 23, which allows users to create PDF documents that include applications supported by computer-aided design (CAD). To read these 3D documents, Acrobat needs to be upgraded to at least version 7.0.
According to Rak Bhalla, Adobe’s marketing director, Acrobat 3D is primarily aimed at customers in the manufacturing sector, who frequently need to exchange CAD files during the product design process. With 3D images, users can rotate and annotate the design models, making the exchange of ideas more convenient and efficient.
Acrobat 3D includes several security features that allow users to restrict copying of valuable design templates. The program can display images from major CAD programs. Bhalla believes that many people will use Acrobat 3D, not just design engineers who use CAD software.
Acrobat 3D is also expected to be highly beneficial in other potential fields such as architecture, manufacturing, and construction. The starting price for Acrobat 3D is $995.
