The nose of a dog is extremely sensitive, capable of distinguishing approximately 15,000 different scents, while the human nose can only differentiate around 12,000 scents.
Dogs have excellent night vision, allowing them to see in complete darkness.
Hunting dogs can hear and distinguish sounds with frequencies from 1,000 to 15,000 meters at the end of the wind direction.
Under a dog’s paws, there is a thick cushioning layer made of connective tissue, similar to cats, which helps dogs move stealthily while hunting.
The muscular and skeletal structure of dogs is robust, enabling them to run at speeds comparable to horses and American cheetahs (70-80 km/h). Fast-running breeds like the Dalmatian, which originated in Denmark, can leap fences at speeds of 60 km/h.

The Smallest and Largest Dog Breeds
The Chihuahua breed originated as a companion dog in the imperial courts of ancient China and later made its way to Europe and North America in the 18th century. They are commonly referred to as “pocket dogs” due to their small size, standing 16-20 cm tall and weighing 1.8-2.5 kg, with erect ears, long necks, slender legs, and smooth brown coats. They resemble tiny deer, hence they are also called “deer dogs.”
The largest breed is the Bernese Mountain Dog, which originates from the mountainous regions of Switzerland and is known as a famous sheepdog in Europe.
