It seemed that Henry Ziegland had survived a close call when his girlfriend’s brother fired a bullet that just grazed his face. Little did he know that 20 years later, this very bullet would take his life.
With this death, Henry Ziegland is listed among the unluckiest people in the world.
In 1883, Henry Ziegland’s girlfriend committed suicide after he announced that he was ending their relationship. Devastated by the loss of his sister, her brother sought revenge on Henry and attempted to kill him with a gunshot before turning the gun on himself.
However, Henry narrowly escaped death as the bullet merely grazed his face and lodged itself into a tree behind him.
Twenty years later, while cutting down the tree that still had the bullet embedded in it, Henry decided to use explosives to remove the stubborn stump.
As a result of the explosion, the bullet was dislodged and struck Henry in the head, ultimately claiming his life. With such an ironic and tragic end, this American man is remembered as one of the unluckiest people in the world.
