Archaeologists excavating an ancient villa of Roman Emperor Hadrian in Tivoli, Italy, have uncovered a staircase, a statue of an athlete, and a headless sphinx statue.
This discovery is incredibly significant for understanding the structure of the site. The staircase has been identified as the main entrance to the villa, built in the 2nd century AD.
To date, 15 steps, each over 8.2 meters wide, have been revealed, and the excavation is ongoing.
Officials have stated that the newly discovered area, located in the northeastern part of Rome, will be opened to visitors this year.
