The trend of using computers as “Media Centers” is rapidly gaining momentum, and Sony aims to become a major player in this field with the launch of the Sony VA1 desktop PC, which boasts an enchanting configuration for entertainment.
Sony has previously introduced desktop PCs designed specifically for entertainment, such as Evesham Mini, Elonex Lumina, and Alienware 5400. The VA1 is seen as a significant upgrade in this line.
Upon bringing the Sony VA1 home, users will likely notice that this computer is nearly a true “wireless masterpiece,” as it requires just one power cord to operate the entire system.
The CPU unit of the VA1 is compactly designed and serves as the stand for the 20-inch wide LCD screen. All connections between the CPU and the display are seamlessly integrated, making the CPU and the 20-inch wide screen appear as a unified entity.
The Sony VA1 is perfectly compatible with both analog and digital TV channels available today. It comes equipped with a wireless mouse and keyboard, with the keyboard featuring an integrated touch sensor similar to that found in laptops. The remote control for the Sony VA1 efficiently manages all media applications on the computer and can also interact with other applications.
The specifications of the Sony VA1 are impressive, featuring a dual-core Intel 2.8 GHz processor, a 250 GB hard drive, an ATI X700 graphics card, and a dual-layer DVD writer. The Sony VA1 is set to hit the market in early March this year, priced at a hefty $2,800.
