One of the key collaboration agreements was signed on the morning of February 17 in Hanoi, between the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and Oracle Corporation.
According to this agreement, VCCI and Oracle have agreed to mobilize the existing resources of both parties to support Vietnamese businesses in applying Information Technology (IT) to enhance their competitiveness, facilitating integration and development. Five areas of cooperation have been established.
Firstly, conducting research and surveys on the current state of IT application in Vietnamese businesses, as well as studying international experiences to promote IT adoption within these enterprises.
Secondly, implementing programs to promote and introduce IT to businesses, with the goal of creating a bridge between users and IT product providers.
Thirdly, establishing an IT application consulting center for businesses to assist in selecting solutions and effectively implementing IT applications.
Fourthly, conducting training programs for human resources in Vietnamese enterprises. These programs will focus on developing IT skills for management and specialized personnel within the businesses.
Finally, this cooperation agreement aims to establish a remote business support center to enhance the quality of support activities for businesses and facilitate timely assistance for more enterprises. The support activities will include: providing information, promoting e-commerce, consulting, training, and hosting business experience exchange forums.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thao, Deputy Secretary-General of VCCI, stated that these agreements were discussed by both parties for nearly a year before reaching consensus, and Oracle is the first IT corporation that VCCI has chosen to sign an agreement with this year. The duration of this cooperation agreement will last for five years, from 2005 to 2010. From this agreement, VCCI and Oracle will propose specific activities annually and widely announce them to businesses. All enterprises are welcome to participate in this support program.
