NowPos has become the first Indian company to be listed among the top 20 broadband enterprises in the Asia-Pacific region, as ranked by global research firm Frost & Sullivan, following the launch of its free vMail service.
To use vMail, individuals simply need to sign up for the service at NowPos. In the message composition section, users click the Record button, use a headset with a microphone, and begin recording their message. Once the message is complete, users can click the Append button to attach the file to an email. Recipients (who do not necessarily need to have a vMail account) will see a link “Click here to listen to the vMail.” This service is likely to attract many users due to its novelty, appeal, and high sound quality.
The mailbox has a capacity of 1.6 GB, with a maximum length of 3 minutes per message. The vMail interface is user-friendly, similar to standard text email services, and it may challenge the existence of conventional email as we know it today.
Ayyappa Nagubandi, the Director of NowPos, stated that vMail is the first service in the world that does not require users to download or install compatible software (plug-ins). The company’s revenue currently comes mainly from advertising, and in the near future, they will charge a fee for users who prefer not to hear advertisements before listening to their emails.
NowPos also plans to launch voice blogging applications, voice news, and voice ATMs in the coming months.
