During a night patrol on February 21, rangers from Station 4 of the Phong Nha – Ke Bang Forestry Department (Quang Binh) discovered and rescued a clouded leopard that had been hunted by two poachers.
The clouded leopard, weighing 9 kg, is currently being treated for a leg injury at the Phong Nha – Ke Bang Scientific Research Center.
Previously, the Phong Nha – Ke Bang Scientific Research Center had rescued and released another clouded leopard weighing 12 kg back into the forest.
The clouded leopard, belonging to the cat family, is a rare and endangered species listed in the Vietnam Red Book.
