South Korea to Produce Stair-Climbing Robots
South Korea is hopeful of becoming the second country in the world, after Japan, to successfully produce stair-climbing robots (a product of Honda). Last weekend, the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology announced plans to upgrade the humanoid Hubo robot, enabling it to climb stairs.
Professor Oh Jun Ho, the head of the robot research team, stated that South Korea took only five years with minimal costs to produce Hubo, while Honda invested over $300 million and spent two decades achieving success with Asimo.
Additionally, Hubo can independently move all ten fingers, a feature that the newly upgraded version of Asimo lacks.
