This statistic was recently presented by Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Le Nam Thang at the Vietnam-Japan bilateral workshop on Computer Emergency Response and Cybersecurity held yesterday morning (March 2).
In the past year of 2005, according to a report from Viet Cert, over 95% of computers were infected with viruses, numerous websites were accessed illegally, and particularly, online scams and pornographic sites had emerged. Therefore, computer emergency response activities and information security in various economic, political, and social sectors play a crucial role.
According to Deputy Minister Thang, cooperation and collaboration between Vietnam and other countries in ensuring information security, transactions, and computer network infrastructure need to be further strengthened through six solutions aimed at ensuring electronic security. These are:
– Establishing a legal framework to successfully combat cybercrime and effectively protect information infrastructure by criminalizing cyber attack activities; developing criminal procedure laws to ensure investigative activities.
– Sharing information and collaborating to assess risks and damages, providing timely warnings to effectively protect information infrastructure.
– Providing security and technical guidance to help the government collaborate in combating cybercrime and protecting information infrastructure.
– Raising community awareness and emphasizing the responsibility of each citizen.
– Training and education.
– Wireless security: identified as a particularly challenging field. Wireless connectivity has revolutionized Internet users and businesses. However, it has also increased the potential for information security breaches, thus requiring enhanced network safety in this sector.
It is known that Japan is a leading country in the world in the field of computer emergency response and information security. At the workshop, the Japan Computer Emergency Response Coordination Center and the Vietnam Computer Emergency Response Center (VN Cert) shared valuable experiences in this field.
