Consumers today are confused about Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) technology but desire the opportunity to utilize its many features.
According to a survey conducted by technology consulting firm Accenture involving 6,000 participants from the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy, 46% of respondents did not understand the term IPTV (Internet Protocol Television – a digital television broadcasting service using broadband).
However, when asked what additional roles television should fulfill to become more appealing, 30% expressed a desire to have the ability to watch as many movies as possible, while another 26% preferred to create their own channels to follow programs whenever they had free time. These are indeed two of the standout features of IPTV.
Over 50% believe that the biggest benefit of subscribing to IPTV services is the reduced amount of ads they would have to watch. Nevertheless, a significant 54% of users are hesitant to pay an additional fee to access their preferred content at any time. Additionally, they also express concerns regarding security risks and the quality issues related to IPTV.
