In addition to the issues that the device may have upon release, such as outdated ROM, low RAM, and slow performance, sometimes problems arise from user error. It can be quite frustrating when you are trying to send a congratulatory message, and the device just won’t respond.
If your screen suddenly goes blank while composing a text message, this is a common issue for some O2 devices. The cause is often due to a faulty model or instability in your ROM. If this issue occurs because your memory is too full, consider deleting some messages. In the case of sending MMS, check the size of the attached file and whether it is stored on the card or in internal memory. If these methods do not resolve the issue, you may need to resort to a “hard reset,” which will restore the device to its original state. If that still doesn’t work, consider upgrading or reverting to the most stable ROM you have. Typically, installing a ROM takes about 30 minutes.
Loss of Sound
If you often receive complaints from callers about intermittent sound, this is a frequent issue with the XDA II. The problem arises from hardware incompatibility with the SIM cards of certain mobile service providers, particularly Viettel. Occasionally, some ROMs from the O2 series may also have minor software issues affecting the phone function.
If you recently purchased an O2 and have not used it for long before it loses sound, check if the device is set to Bluetooth headset mode. If a Bluetooth headset is connected, some older ROMs will not allow calls through the device itself but will require conversation through the headset.
Misaligned Screen
The O2 is proudly known for its touch screen and stylus that points accurately. However, nothing is more frustrating than when you touch one area, but the screen responds elsewhere. In such cases, many customers immediately attempt to update the ROM or perform a hard reset.
The cause of this issue could be the “cheap” screen protector you are using. Stiff and smooth screen protectors from Taiwan and China can easily cause the screen to misalign due to temperature changes. Initially, there may not be any noticeable issues, but over time, these protectors often become distorted.
If you encounter this problem, it’s best to remove the old protector and replace it with a new one. If you lack experience or skill in applying screen protectors, consider visiting a specialized O2 store for assistance. According to the experiences of many users, textured protectors may appear slightly darker when applied but are less likely to distort the screen. However, ensure you purchase quality protectors from reputable sellers, specifying your device type for the appropriate fit.
Before applying a new protector, clean the screen thoroughly to remove dust. Inspect the screen at a 45-degree angle to check for any remaining debris. Apply the protector from the top down slowly, using the included card to push out any air bubbles. Continue this process until the protector fits snugly against the screen.
There are also exceptions where some touch screens may become misaligned over time, regardless of whether a protector is used. This can often be remedied by recalibrating the screen alignment or updating to a more suitable ROM. Replacing the screen can also resolve misalignment, but it is costly, and the safety of such repairs cannot be guaranteed.
