There is a health soup rumored to cure numerous ailments, and when consumed with urine, it is claimed to even treat cancer, leading many people to purchase it for healing purposes.
Drink Urine as Well!?

Health soup (CDS) that is said to cure various diseases has been disseminated through a book that entered Vietnam 3-4 years ago. Not only has it been shared orally, but the CDS book has also been uploaded to the internet.
As a result, whether suffering from severe or mild ailments, many individuals buy carrots, white radishes, shiitake mushrooms, and burdock root (the components of CDS) to prepare and drink. A pharmaceutical company in Vietnam has also recently launched pre-packaged CDS on the market.
According to the book’s foreword, it was reprinted by a group of friends in Australia in Sydney in 2003. This book claims that after consuming CDS, cancer cells can be controlled or even destroyed within just three hours! The minimum duration for using CDS to treat cancer is three months.
For terminal cancer patients and those suffering from severe chronic diseases, it is suggested to use… urine therapy for treatment! In the morning, during the first urination, the initial urine should be discarded; only the midstream portion (30cc) should be collected and mixed with 150cc of CDS, to be consumed once each morning (using the patient’s own urine), continuing for three months, after which only CDS is required. Thus, CDS is said to “cure” ailments from diabetes, freckles, hepatitis C, cancer, to… AIDS!
Cannot Treat Cancer
The book states that burdock root (scientific name: Cimicifuga foetida) resembles a carrot but has dark gray skin and white flesh.
According to a lecturer at the Traditional Medicine Faculty of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, burdock and burdock root are two different types. Specifically, the plant referred to as “Cimicifuga foetida” in the book “Medicinal Plants and Remedies in Vietnam” by Professor Do Tat Loi is actually the plant known as “thang ma,” described distinctly as not “like a carrot.”
The book “Urine Therapy” by Dr. F.O. Quinn (USA), published by a local publisher in 1989, caused a stir at the time due to its unscientific content and the severe consequences faced by some patients who used urine therapy. This book was banned from circulation and has gradually been forgotten by most people. |
Burdock root is available for sale in some supermarkets, with the nutritional content listed on the packaging: Dietary Fiber 4g: 16%, Vitamin C: 6%, Calcium: 5%, Iron: 5%, Cholesterol: 0%, Sodium: 0%… which shows a complete difference from the chemical composition in known burdock varieties and thang ma…
Dr. Dao Thi Yen Phi from the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Training and Development of Health Personnel indicates that based on the content listed on the packaging, this is a dietary supplement rich in fiber – only effective for bowel regulation, digestive system activity, and reducing the absorption of unhealthy saturated fats, but only if the entire vegetable is consumed, as the nutrients in this food must be absorbed through the digestive system.
Carrots contain minerals, fiber, high sugar content, and beta-carotene, a precursor to vitamin A – an antioxidant that helps protect the body’s cells from oxidation. However, to amplify the antioxidant effects of beta-carotene, it must be combined with other antioxidants. It is essential to note that these substances protect cells against cancer-causing agents in the early stages (when cells are still healthy) but do not serve as a cancer treatment.
“Causing Diseases”
In addition to the CDS “according to the book,” recently, a new version of CDS has emerged, consisting of five ingredients: celery, cucumber, Da Lat chili, bitter melon, and western apple. It is suggested to blend these ingredients and drink them on an empty stomach immediately after blending for maximum benefit. This CDS is also rumored to cure conditions from high blood pressure, diabetes, liver disease, obesity, hemorrhoids, eye problems… to certain types of cancer?!
According to doctors, this is yet another scientifically unfounded remedy being circulated. Drinking fruit juice after removing the skin and discarding the pulp, which means discarding fiber, leads to faster absorption of sugar into the bloodstream. In this case, insulin will be released in larger quantities and retain sugar in the body, which instead of “curing” diabetes and obesity, may cause diabetes and weight gain!
In light of the increasing number of people self-prescribing CDS with urine for various health issues, the Ministry of Health cannot “turn a blind eye” to the dangers posed to the public and needs to issue a statement clarifying the validity of these claims, analyzing, and warning against the potential harms.
