This year, Vietnam has 19 scientists listed in the Research.com ranking, with the National University of Hanoi leading with 4 scientists.
Research.com (a reputable online portal for scientists worldwide) has just announced the results of the 2024 ranking of outstanding scientists. Among them, 19 Vietnamese scientists working domestically are included in the ranking.
In this ranking round, Research.com reviewed data from nearly 170,000 top scientists worldwide and categorized them into 26 fields for ranking purposes. This year, Vietnam is represented in 10 of these fields.

A number of Vietnamese scientists are recognized in various fields: Management and Business, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics and Finance, Engineering and Technology, Environmental Science, Materials Science, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering, Medicine, and Social Sciences and Humanities.
The rankings in each of the aforementioned fields include Vietnamese scientists or foreign scientists with affiliations to universities in Vietnam, with at least one person in each field and a maximum of seven (in fields like Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, and Aerospace Engineering).
In familiar fields with many well-known Vietnamese scientists: Associate Professor Dr. Le Hoang Son (National University of Hanoi) in the field of Computer Science; Professor Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc (National University of Hanoi) in Engineering and Technology; Professor Dr. Tran Xuan Bach (Hanoi Medical University) in Medicine.

This year, the field of Mathematics made its debut in this ranking with two notable names: Professor Ngo Viet Trung from the Institute of Mathematics and Professor Phan Quoc Khanh from the National University of Ho Chi Minh City.
Notably, in this ranking in the field of Chemistry, the top scientist from Vietnam is Professor Philippe Derreumaux (affiliated with Ton Duc Thang University) with a D-index of 63, ranking 6,336 globally. He is also the only scientist representing Vietnam in this year’s ranking in the field of Chemistry.
