“The Giant” Redmond has begun testing the display of advertisements through Microsoft Office Live, Windows Live Mail, and MSN Spaces.
The majority of these advertisements come from large companies and corporations such as Coca-Cola Brazil, JCPenney, and Monster Worldwide.
“Advertising services are a very important business model for Microsoft globally, as the number of ad placements continues to rise worldwide,” said Joanne Bradford, Vice President of Global Business and Marketing at Microsoft.
Windows Live is currently displaying ads being tested in MSN Spaces in Australia and Italy, while Windows Live Mail is showcasing ads being tested in major markets such as Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the UK, and the US.
The testing will continue across the Live services and Microsoft’s websites throughout 2006, along with research to improve these advertising programs. The Redmond company also stated that while it is focusing on Live projects, it will continue to invest and develop for MSN.com.
Alongside other convenient free services from major companies, there are also increasingly professional and bothersome advertisement boards. Microsoft is still lagging behind Google, which has a successful program called Google AdSense that is widely adopted by websites around the world, including in Vietnam.
