Archaeologists in Bangladesh have announced the discovery of a section of an ancient fortress dating back to 450 BC (as seen in the image). This site includes a moat surrounding the fortress and several segments of an ancient road located in the Wari region, approximately 85 kilometers northeast of the capital city, Dhaka.
Dr. S. Rahman, the head of the Archaeology Department at Jahangirnagar University, stated: “This ancient fortress, along with various weapons and artifacts, could help redefine the history of India. The road and the drainage systems indicate that a highly efficient administration managed this fortification. I believe that further excavations in the near future will lead us to discover the remnants of a palace.”
According to Dr. Rahman, this fortress may be part of the Harappan civilization, which thrived from 2700 to 700 BC. It is believed that this site served as a significant trading center, possibly acting as a bridge between Roman civilization and South Asia.
