Japanese engineers have recently unveiled a koi-shaped robot designed to gather information about aquatic species.
This robotic fish comes in three colors: white, yellow, and red, and is remotely controlled. Besides resembling a koi, this robot can swim in an aquarium by undulating its fins, which look remarkably realistic. This design allows it to easily “approach” other fish and collect data about them.
The robot measures 81 cm in length and is equipped with a camera. It can measure the oxygen levels in the water, a crucial indicator of the health status of fish species. Additionally, it can survey the condition of underwater structures such as bridges and oil platforms.
