While there are quite a few programs to create VCDs from personal photo collections, such as ProShow Gold and Fly2VCD, a significant limitation remains concerning copyright if you wish to respect the original authors. Therefore, if you are not overly concerned about the fancy effects for images when creating a VCD, you can use JPGVideo as an alternative. With its small size, free-of-charge access, and user-friendly interface, it is a program you can trust.
JPGVideo allows you to create VCDs from JPG files and then export them as AVI video files that you can use to burn to a VCD and play on home VCD players.
The program is entirely easy to use. After successfully installing the software, you will need to select the directory containing your JPG files in the JPG Directory section. Next, in the Output section, choose the location for the AVI file. After making your selections, check the Remember Codec box to save the codec information used to compress the AVI file. If you cannot play the AVI file later, you can utilize VideoInspector to find the appropriate codec. Once you have completed your selections and settings, click OK and then Run to finish creating the video from your images.
JPGVideo is a compact program, only 447KB in size, and is compatible with all Windows versions. You can download it for free at http://web.onetel.net.uk/~tferenc/download/free/jpgvideo.zip .
