After completing a state-level scientific research project on artificial coral cultivation methods, the Institute of Oceanography has worked with Binh Dinh Province to implement the planting of approximately 20 hectares of coral using artificial methods in the coastal area of Ganh Rang.
The investment for planting coral in the aforementioned area is 250 million VND. Once the planted coral has developed stably, the Institute of Oceanography will hand it over to the local authorities for community management and utilization…
Additionally, the Institute has also planted about 1 hectare of coral in the waters of Hon Mun (Nha Trang).
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Tac An: In natural conditions, coral typically grows about 1-1.6 cm per year. However, under artificial conditions, corals cultivated by the Institute have grown between 3 to 10 cm in just six months (photo).
