In the era of technology 4.0, AI is a term that comes up everywhere, and people even regard AI as a “monument” in computer technology, more than just a mere trend.
What is AI?
So what is AI technology? AI (Artificial Intelligence) refers to models and algorithms developed by AI engineers with the aim of enabling computers to possess intelligence. Currently, AI is primarily built in the form of Machine Learning, which consists of algorithms that learn from input data to solve specific problems. This has brought us closer to achieving true AI.
Some prominent branches of AI/Machine Learning that are currently popular include:
- Computer Vision
- Natural Language Processing
- Audio Signal Processing
- Big Data Processing
Classification of AI
- ANI (Artificial Narrow Intelligence): Typically capable of handling a small task. Applications with ANI are becoming popular and are present in our daily lives, such as virtual assistants like Siri, Google Translate, and facial recognition systems.
- AGI (Artificial General Intelligence): This level of AI can understand and learn any task that a human can do. We have not yet reached this level of AI and further research is needed. Notably, Microsoft has invested $1 billion in OpenAI to develop AGI.
- ASI (Artificial Superintelligence): This AI can surpass human capabilities, performing better than humans in many tasks. Additionally, ASI can understand human emotions and express its own feelings.
Differences Between AI, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning
AI can be understood as the goal of humanity, the desire for computers to possess human-like intelligence. To achieve this intelligence, Machine Learning serves as the means to reach that end. Within Machine Learning, there are many methods and algorithms for learning, with Deep Learning being the most prominent. Thanks to Deep Learning, computers can now tackle problems that seemed impossible years ago, such as accurately recognizing human speech and identifying faces among millions of others.
