Traditional medicine believes that rhododendron flowers help regulate menstruation, dispel phlegm, eliminate dampness, and relieve itching; therefore, they are used to treat menstrual disorders, amenorrhea, metrorrhagia, injuries from falls, rheumatism, hemoptysis, and more.
Rhododendron leaves have hemostatic properties, dispel dampness, and relieve pain, making them useful in treating bleeding disorders, irregular menstruation, metrorrhagia, bleeding hemorrhoids, dysentery, arthritis, and injuries from falls.
Medicinal Recipes with Rhododendron
Treatment for chronic bronchitis: 30 g of rhododendron leaves, 15 g of jujube leaves, and 24 g of water spinach. Decoct and drink the resulting liquid 3-4 times a day for several days.
Treatment for vomiting blood and nosebleeds: 15 g of rhododendron flowers and 15 g of rhododendron roots. Decoct and drink throughout the day.
Treatment for menorrhagia: 30-60 g of rhododendron roots, decocted with a bit of red wine. Alternatively: 60 g of rhododendron flowers, stir-fried with wine, then decocted for drinking.
Treatment for postpartum hemorrhage: A handful of rhododendron leaves, decocted with a little wine and consumed.
Treatment for hemorrhoids: 30-60 g of fresh rhododendron roots and a piece of pig intestine, decocted to drink 3-4 times a day.
Treatment for boils and ulcerations in the nape area: Take fresh rhododendron leaves and fresh cypress leaves, pound them together, mix with egg white and honey, and apply to the affected area.
Treatment for abscesses and soft tissue ulcers: Take branches or young leaves of rhododendron, pound them, and apply to the painful area.
Treatment for wounds from falls: If there is significant pain, use fresh rhododendron leaves, pound them, and apply to the painful area; alternatively, grind dried rhododendron leaves into powder and sprinkle on the wound to stop bleeding. If there are bruises and significant swelling, use fresh rhododendron leaves combined with a sufficient amount of turmeric, pound them together, add a little wine, and apply to the injured area. Additionally, combine 20-30 g of rhododendron roots, decoct, and drink 3-4 times a day.
Treatment for fainting due to extreme fear or mechanical trauma: Use rhododendron roots, removing the rough outer skin, drying them, and grinding into powder. After that, take a little of this powder and blow it into the patient’s nose.
