Airlines, airports, and aircraft manufacturers in the UK are now working towards reducing emissions with a new type of aircraft over the next 15 years.
These companies aim to develop airplanes that produce only half the amount of carbon dioxide compared to current levels. This new goal has received support from most UK airlines. Additionally, there are new objectives aimed at reducing noise pollution caused by passenger planes in the future.
Brendon Sewill, an advisor to the UK Treasury, argues that the UK is the second-worst offender in the world, after the United States, in terms of aviation’s contribution to climate change.
Brendon Sewill has proposed measures to combat aviation pollution, including imposing taxes on goods carried by air passengers, applying value-added tax on airline tickets, abolishing free sales, and ending planning systems that prevent the expansion of airports.
