On April 12, the award ceremony for the 2005 Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Awards and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Awards will take place in Hanoi.
In 2005, the organizing committee decided to award prizes to 40 projects, including 4 first prizes, 8 second prizes, 13 third prizes, and 15 encouragement awards.
These projects span the fields of mechanical engineering – automation, new material technology, information technology and telecommunications, biotechnology for life and production, environmental protection technology, and rational resource utilization.
The WIPO Award for the Best Female Author of the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award 2005 goes to author Ho Huynh Thuy Duong from the University of Science, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, for her project on developing a quantitative method for hepatitis virus measurement using real-time RT-PCR technology for research and treatment of hepatitis C.
The WIPO Award for the Best Project of the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award 2005 is awarded to the author team from Z113 Factory under the General Department of Defense Industry (Ministry of Defense) for their research and design of a rotary drill bit with a diameter of 246 mm to ensure effective cutting performance on various types of soil and rock. The WIPO Award for the Best Business in 2005 for the application of intellectual property systems in production and business goes to Vinacafe Bien Hoa Joint Stock Company, Dong Nai.
The Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Awards aim to encourage scientists and technologists to delve into research, applying modern scientific and technological achievements, and technologies suitable to Vietnam’s circumstances into production and life. This award is given to authors with projects of significant scientific, economic, and social value that are being implemented and effectively applied in Vietnam.
