Alvarion, a provider of wireless broadband solutions and specialized mobile networks, has introduced its new 4Motion solution for WiMAX. This comprehensive mobile WiMAX solution is based on the 802.16e-2005 standard and is implemented alongside core network technology providers, terminal equipment manufacturers, and integrated service providers.
4Motion is a complete end-to-end mobile WiMAX solution that integrates modern radio technologies, quality of service (QoS) features, additional multimedia transmission components and systems, Internet Protocol (IP) mobility, alongside subscriber terminal equipment and supporting interfaces.
By combining software-defined radio (SDR), beamforming, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology, flexible bandwidth allocation, and orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA), the benefits for service providers include increased network deployment flexibility, greater capacity, improved coverage, efficient resource sharing, optimized user throughput, and guaranteed mobile services. Compatible with the 802.16e-2005 standards and fully distributed architecture based on the Internet Protocol (IP), 4Motion supports flexibility in partner selection among multiple providers and telecommunications service operators.
Mr. Tzvika Freidman, CEO and Chairman of Alvarion, stated: “4Motion provides telecommunications operators with overall benefits in the first two years of WiMAX deployment, starting with a small network offering fixed and handheld services, and then transitioning to fully mobile WiMAX services, while also benefiting existing customers by enhancing their available network. For telecommunications companies, this solution offers greater capacity while ensuring flexibility and robustness for their networks. Equally important, 4Motion allows telecommunications companies to offer various multimedia service types during deployment.”
In addition to 4Motion, BreezeMAX is Alvarion’s WiMAX product designed to support fixed, mobile, handheld, and portable WiMAX applications. This product is built to meet current demands, enabling service providers to deploy flexible and scalable networks that optimally satisfy the needs of operators and subscribers at each stage of network development.
Alvarion’s BreezeMAX product is currently the most widely deployed WiMAX solution, with over 150 networks in more than 30 countries worldwide. Trials for the 4Motion version are expected to take place in the first half of 2007.
