On the morning of April 11, the Cyber Security Center (Bkis) officially announced the successful analysis and handling of a new virus that is rapidly spreading through the Yahoo! Messenger system.

According to Bkis, contrary to some reports claiming this virus is a BOTNET and spreads due to vulnerabilities in Yahoo! Messenger, they believe that this virus can only be used to download BOTNETs but is not a BOTNET itself. Its method of spreading relies solely on user vulnerabilities, not flaws in Yahoo! Messenger.
As of now, it is estimated that around 10,050 computers in Vietnam have fallen victim to this virus.
Through analysis, Bkis’s team of experts has identified the perpetrator responsible for creating this virus and has confirmed their name, phone number, and address.
Bkis reported that the expert team conducted a test to “intimidate” the suspect, who likely became frightened and immediately took down the source of the virus distribution on the Internet. Currently, Bkis is coordinating with security agencies to handle the case.
Alongside the virus analysis and identifying the perpetrator, Bkis has completed a comprehensive handling plan and named the virus GaixinhYMA and GaixinhYMB.
Handling Instructions:
For customers using the BkavPro version: The latest version will automatically update when you turn on your computer. After that, just scan all files and all drives.
For customers using the Bkav Home version: You need to download the latest Bkav Home software from www.bkav.com.vn. After that, run Bkav and select to scan all files and all drives.
