To make movie theater experiences more relatable and engaging, NTT Communications Corp (Japan) is planning to launch a scent emitter that releases fragrances based on the scenes depicted on screen.
Previously, this company introduced a similar product for home televisions, and now they aim to bring this sensory experience to movie enthusiasts in theaters. The plan includes offering seven distinct scents for various movie scenes. For instance, the fragrance of flowers will be released during romantic moments, citrus scents like orange and grapefruit will accompany comedic scenes, mint and rosemary will enhance emotional moments, while scenes of anger will be paired with eucalyptus and tea scents. These aromas will be emitted from scent dispensers placed under the audience’s seats at a moderate and pleasant level.
