The five-star hotel located in the heart of the capital had prepared a VIP room for the head of state to welcome the Microsoft chairman. According to VnExpress, the number of staff working at the hotel during this shift had been doubled compared to normal days. Local militia and police forces in the surrounding area were also requested to assist in ensuring security during Bill Gates’ stay.
Only two American bodyguards accompanied Bill Gates. The remaining security personnel were Vietnamese, arranged in advance at the Hilton Hanoi. As soon as Bill Gates appeared in the lobby, these security members quickly stepped in to help him escape the throng of reporters.
