According to the experience of expert William Miller, Director of the Cornell Research Program on Bulbous Flowers, to prevent daffodil plants from growing too tall and then bending over each day, caretakers should water the base of the plants with alcohol daily.

Miller began experimenting with watering daffodils using alcohol over a year ago, and the results show that the daffodils grow slower but have sturdier stems. Alcohol limits the height growth of the plants by 30-50%, but it does not affect the flowering process.
Alcohol types that can be used to care for daffodils include gin, vodka, whiskey, white rum, and peppermint schnapps. Alcohol should be diluted to a concentration of 4-6 percent, which is particularly suitable for daffodils. However, beer and wine are not suitable because they contain sugar.
