Chinese Astronauts Cut Hair and Wash Their Heads with Special Equipment on the Tiangong Space Station.
Recently, astronauts aboard China’s Shenzhou 17 spacecraft, including mission commander Tang Hongbo and teammates Tang Shengjie and Jiang Xinlin, assisted each other in cutting hair on the Tiangong Space Station.
The newly released clip by China’s manned space agency shows Tang Shengjie cutting hair for his colleague Jiang Xinlin with a smart hair-cutting device that functions like a vacuum cleaner. This special device not only cuts hair but also vacuums up the cut hair to minimize the risk of stray hair floating around and obstructing the station’s hardware.
The clip also features Tang Hongbo using a special shower cap to wash his hair. The first cap contains shampoo for application to the hair, while the second cap holds water for rinsing and cleaning the hair, after which he dries his head with a towel.

It is noted that the Shenzhou 17 spacecraft arrived at the Tiangong Space Station on October 26, and the astronauts have now been in space for over 50 days. Their daily tasks include moving equipment outside the space station for experiments, managing equipment and facilities, as well as maintaining scientific infrastructure for long-term research at the station.
Additionally, the astronauts of Shenzhou 17 have also practiced medical care skills to enhance their physical conditioning, helping them adapt better to living in space. They are expected to stay at the Tiangong Space Station for a total of about six months, with plans to receive supplies from the Tianzhou 7 cargo spacecraft, which is scheduled to be launched in January 2024.
