From the moment she was born, Natty surprised doctors who had never encountered a case like hers.
Supatra “Natty” Susuphan was born in 1999 into a typical family in Thailand. However, right from birth, it was clear that she was a special girl, as Natty’s body was covered in unusual hair unlike any other newborns.
Initially, Natty’s parents thought this might be normal, but when they saw their daughter in an incubator, they were shocked. Supatra’s hair covered almost her entire body, and even leading doctors in Thailand had never seen anyone with such an appearance. Hospital staff were concerned that the baby’s parents might experience a crisis and insisted they promise not to abandon her out of fear.
Natty is referred to as “the wolf girl.”
Later, doctors discovered that Natty had a rare skin condition known as Ambras syndrome. This disorder is so uncommon that only about 50 similar cases have been documented worldwide. Ambras syndrome causes excessive hair growth on the body, leaving only the palms, soles of the feet, and inside the mouth unaffected. A sudden mutation in DNA may cause this condition.
From her early years, Natty was fortunate to receive boundless love from her parents. However, in the outside world, not everyone understood her condition, and Natty grew up facing ostracism and bullying from strangers and peers alike.
Ostracized and mocked, Natty still overcame challenges.
Natty’s face is always obscured by a thick layer of hair, giving her a wolf-like appearance. Traditional methods such as laser hair removal have been ineffective in slowing her hair growth.
Despite her different appearance and the many challenges she faced, Natty remained optimistic, confident, and loved herself. Teachers describe her as a vibrant student who is passionate about singing, dancing, and acting. Her parents treated her like any other sibling, never making her feel less important. They took her everywhere and were never embarrassed by their daughter’s eye-catching appearance.
Now, at the age of 24, “the wolf girl” Natty has embraced her condition and lives happily and confidently like any other girl her age. Recently, she married her longtime boyfriend.
