The kangaroo individuals discovered in Cao Bằng province have successfully adapted to their new environment at the Hoang Lien Rescue, Conservation, and Development Center (Lao Cai) and are now healthy.
On the morning of November 22, a group of reporters visited the Hoang Lien Rescue, Conservation, and Development Center (Lao Cai). The center’s leadership informed that four kangaroo individuals were transferred by the Forest Protection Department of Thach An District (Cao Bằng) just a few days ago.
According to the handover document from the Cao Bằng Forest Protection Department, the four kangaroos discovered are scientifically named Notamacropus rufogriseus, weighing between 7.6 to 8.8 kg, and all have gray fur. Among them, three are males, and one is female.
The kangaroo enclosure is separated from the outdoor area by a steel fence.
Inside, there is a care area, enclosed with metal and wooden boards.
The main diet of these kangaroos consists of dry grass and fruits.
Currently, all four kangaroo individuals are very healthy.
Previously, on the morning of November 8, local residents discovered the first kangaroo at Bac Quang Pass, Duc Long Commune, Thach An District (Cao Bằng). By 8:30 PM that day, residents along with forest protection and border guard forces used nets to capture and safely relocate the kangaroo.
On the morning of November 9, two other kangaroos were discovered along a commune road, near a shrub area.
The fourth kangaroo individual was discovered by the Thach An District Forest Protection Department on the morning of November 11.
By November 16, the Thach An District Forest Protection Department had transferred these individuals to the Hoang Lien Rescue, Conservation, and Development Center for rescue, care, and conservation.
