A temporary warning has been issued on the island of Sicily (Italy) following the eruption of Mount Etna, which created thick columns of black smoke in the sky.
According to RT, on November 13, the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology of Italy (INGV) announced the latest activity of Mount Etna – the largest volcano in Europe. This eruption produced gigantic ash clouds that covered many buildings in the town of Catania.
Mount Etna rises 3,350 meters above sea level and spans an area of 35 km2 on the island of Sicily, making it the most active volcano in Europe. Between 2021 and 2022, Mount Etna erupted approximately once a month.
This latest eruption did not cause any casualties, and INGV has lowered the alert level to orange. Operations at local airports have not been disrupted, and no incidents have been reported.
