Drone footage has captured the stunning moment of a lone shark pursuing hundreds of venomous stingrays off the coast of Anna Maria Island, Florida.
Venomous Stingrays refer to various species of stingrays from the Myliobatiformes order, mainly belonging to the families Dasyatidae, Urotrygonidae, Urolophidae, and Potamotrygonidae. Generally, venomous stingrays do not prefer to attack humans. When threatened, they usually choose to swim away. However, they will defend themselves when about to be eaten or stepped on. This behavior is commonly used by stingrays to fend off sharks. Cases of fatal injuries caused by stingray stings are extremely rare but can occur. |
