One Patient Infected with H5N1 Has Recovered
According to Professor Hoang Thuy Long, deputy head of the National Steering Committee for Pandemic Prevention of Human Influenza, Ministry of Health: the patient infected with H5N1, V.V.H. (15 years old, from Tien Lang district, Hai Phong), has tested negative for H5N1 after retesting.
Patient V.V.H. showed symptoms starting on November 14, including cough and mild fever (above 38°C), which aligned with avian influenza symptoms. Family members reported that V.H. had previously been in contact with sick and dead poultry. On November 16, V.H. was hospitalized at Viet Tiep Hospital (Hai Phong) and later transferred to the Central Pediatric Hospital. V.H.’s samples were sent to the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, and on November 19, they tested positive for H5N1.
Professor Hoang Thuy Long stated that V.H.’s health is improving and is being continuously monitored at the Central Pediatric Hospital.
